There are times when steel becomes much more than a strong building material; on rare occasions it becomes a grand, awe-inspiring thing of beauty. The gracefully arched Gorge Bridge, at 876 ft. above the New River in West Virginia, is the third highest in North America. With an arch 1,700 feet long, it was for many years the world's longest single-span arch bridge.
