Description
The last baby tries to gain enough courage to fly to his mom who is encouraging him from nearby. My son Greg took this shot from 10 ft away. A moment after this the baby took off. Having never flown before, he lacked control and wound up going straight at my son, who thought he was under attack. After a near miss the little guy landed safely and Greg went to change his underwear, I think. :) Wildlife photography has its perils!

Steve---congratulations on your WFS feature! I enjoyed reading your description. We have raised 16 bluebirds this year---and hopefull four more on the way. I have never been able to catch the babies leaving. However, I have seen a couple of them come back and stand on the box while the mother is tending to new eggs.
