About Steve Harrington
I am a retired professor at a college in Toronto and taught critical thinking and communications. In the past I also taught literature, creative thinking and problem solving.
I've also had the opportunity to teach about and lead tours to a variety of world destinations including backpacking through the Canadian Rockies, traveling above the Arctic Circle in Norway, into the Sahara in Morocco, and throughout Southeast Asia with a special focus on Thailand. It was my four tours to India that formed me most profoundly, both as a person and as a photographer. It is a magic land of extremes in every sense of the word. More recently I had the opportunity to expand my world view with travel to the Peruvian Andes, the back roads of West Virginia, and the fascinating richness of New Orleans.
I have always been partial to landscape photography, but capturing the people and street scenes of distant lands have been as important when I had the opportunities. My present equipment includes a Nikon D7100 & D90 and a variety of lenses. Editing is done in Lightroom, Photoshop and Nik software.
Two of my images from India were featured in the June 2008 issue of PCPhoto magazine. My work has also been published in the recent book Ice Storm Ontario 2013 and has been sold to numerous private collectors.
Please feel free to contact me if you see one of my images that you would like in a different style, in B&W or more painterly for example. I will gladly discuss your needs. I hope you enjoy my work.
